Pros
CF really cares about all their employees. From the top down, there is engagement and communication is superb. Our values, goals, vision and mission is clearly portrayed on a regular basis within this work environment. Ethics are very important and Brian P makes it a point to remain one of the most ethical companies. He drives us in the right direction, reminding us that everything we do is to provide affordable access to care for the communities we serve. Whether you find a job in operations, service, sales, or any other division, you will be happy you accepted an offer to work here. There are volunteer options, trips and many rewards incentives for doing a good job. No crippling pressure to perform either. Pay is good, promotions are available, plenty of PTO, training is constantly provided, and management will generously help you with your concerns or problems. You will feel appreciated, supported and loved in this environment while laying your hands to important work!
Cons
If you are highly money motivated, you will feel capped at some point. That's really the only downside I've seen. Some folks leave CareFirst to work for a broker so that they can reach new financial goals. That's not to say you can't make big time money here, if you apply yourself and work into a VP or executive level position. However, most of our 40-50+ employees work here until retirement, so those opportunities won't present themselves as frequently as other companies.
