Pros
Finding the right team. Being in the right market. Development. Increasing profit. Being able to hire/fire your own staff.
Cons
Scheduling system. It seems like it works but it is not like other big-box retailers. Meaning, that the function of the scorecard is to ensure that the scheduling puts people in a place where needed and they actually work that position However, with Casey's it is just scheduling people in areas based on 15-minute increments. It does not compare your forecasted hours to whether your people work their designated job (the whole point of a scorecard). Micromanaging to an OCD level. I spend more time filling out paperwork and putting up 12+ clipboards full of information than spending time working on the floor cleaning or re-setting planos. I have 10+ emails a day from my Supervisor, which contain requests to meet her district obligations and plenty of tasks under Casey's connection to complete by certain dates. My management team is only allowed 4.25 hours a day to be a manager and the rest of the time they are excepted to be in the role of the cashier, pizza, prep, or truck. No extra time for order.
