Pros

-I worked for caster for 1yr 6 mos before I found my dream job. My experience and skills gained from working at Caster filled up my resume very, very quickly. -Opportunity for travel! Caster's clients exhibit at annual tradeshows in the U.S. and abroad. I attended my first tradeshow after working at caster for 1-year, but others have traveled for work as early as 4-months in. -The team is young and young at heart, and the office strikes a perfect balance between work and fun. -Your work will be recognized, since this is a small PR-firm, you have the opportunity to be involved with many high-profile projects that look great on your resume, such as: writing case studies, attending tradeshows, developing social media/marketing campaigns, forging relationships with top tier media outlets. -You will be on a first-name basis with your boss. -Your schedule can be flexible as needed for appointments and personal time (but I recommend sticking to the script and earning that trust for at least 6-months). -After 1-year, you have the opportunity to work from home one day per week. -Everyone has their own desk with two computer monitors, your own phone, filing cabinet, and any other tools you need to succeed. -You have access to online communications tools to make your job easier. -If it's relevant to your job, Caster will pay for you to attend workshops and training. -Caster Communications office is brand-new, clean, and bright, it even has a full kitchen to prepare your lunch, and it's always stocked with coffee, tea, snacks, and seltzer water. -Collaborative team environment and everyone is passionate, which inspires you to bring your A-game. -You are recognized and compensated for a job well done, and Caster always celebrates personal wins no matter how big or small. Everyone on the team is rooting for each other. -Every team member, no matter how new, is encouraged to voice their ideas, opinions. In this industry, it's important to remain nimble and don't be afraid to speak up and offer your creativity, it will be welcomed and will definitely get you noticed. -When I worked at Caster, we had a pilates instructor teach a private class every Wednesday at the office - the basement is carpeted, fully finished - don't forget your stretchy pants! -Your boss and the entire leadership team are always available to answer questions and hear your new ideas. Don't be shy. -Your co-workers don't force you to hang out with them outside of work. -You get a cake and a small gift on your birthday. -The dress code is business casual; mostly you can dress casual.

Cons

-Clients in different time zones sometimes means you come in a little bit early, or leave a little later. -You must be highly organized, and responsible for your own to-do list, and be able to recall details swiftly (not a bad thing). -If you are looking for a "desk job" where you can hide behind your screen for 8-hours, this is NOT the job for you.

Pros

I've been working at Caster Communications just shy of 4 years. I joined the team as a recent URI grad looking to jump start a career and learn more about the world of PR. Some of the benefits (and there are many) to working at Caster include, flex hours, fantastic compensation, a fast-pace and exciting work environment and a dedicated team of co-workers who are ready and willing to go above and beyond for you and teach you anything they can. Since I started, our team has doubled. We hold regular team status meetings and frequent team outings which strengthens the team both inside, and outside of work. If you're up for the challenge and ready and willing to put the time and effort in, working at Caster Communications is rewarding with just the right amount of fun mixed in. Plain and simple, we work hard, but we play even harder.

Cons

If you're seeking a job where you can just put in the hours minimum and fly under the radar, Caster isn't right for you. We're a small, yet nimble team and every member counts. Our team is more robust now than it's ever been before and we're more than willing to put the time into teaching and training new members of our team. While currently, (September 2016) our offices are split between 2 different floors, the whole company is still located within one single building and we're working on a solution to consolidate office space to house all our offices on one floor. As an employee of several years, we're incredibly well compensated with copious opportunities for upward mobility and growth - if you're willing to work for it.
