Pros
Some of the best design work around, amazing architectural detailing, wonderful clients, and the feeling that you are making a direct impact on your community. Small office environment allows you to work on several different types of projects.
Cons
Difficult to move up in the firm if you do not start as a senior-level architect. Adverse to including all employees, even younger and mid-level staff, on client and consultant meetings and CA work, which creates communication issues while trying to work on projects.
Work-life balance is decent for the most part, however, if you do work significant overtime for deadlines, you are not compensated for it (no extra pay, cannot use comp time to take another day off). Also, they tend to underpay their staff compared to the rest of the Philadelphia architecture market.
The firm had an antiquated business and IT strategy when confronting the move to remote and hybrid work during the pandemic.
