Pros

Mission driven organization that allows workers to get paid for advocating for improved workplace standards and workers' rights. Also connects improving workers' outcomes to improvements in workers' families and communities. Great leadership and mentorship opportunities, both inside and outside the organization. Great team work atmosphere and professional supports (i.e,, trainings, tools, etc.)

Cons

Fast-paced work environment that oftentimes has challenging turnarounds for work deadlines. Sometimes work goals aren't fully and clearly transmitted to employees.

Pros

I'm a working class person. I've had working class jobs with working class pay and working class rights (i.e. none) my whole life. Never in a million years did I think I would get a job like this. Employers can actually care about you as a person, be gracious about your mistakes, and value your health (mental & physical.) They just don't. CPI does, though. If you're looking for a job at CPI, here's what I would say: be an optimistic person & have some organizing experience. We don't have time for hopelessness and doom, just long-term working class solutions to real capitalist problems.

Cons

Maybe I have rose-colored glasses, but I honestly don't see any cons. I'm paid a wage that allows me to breathe for the first time in years, everyone here is radical and compassionate and patient. Maybe the con is that you'll be doing work you care about with people you care about, so you will bring it home with you if you aren't intentional about it? But everyone encourages you to take care of yourself so you don't burn out.

Pros

* The mission and history of the organization reflect the great work they have done.

Cons

* While the Executive Director is charismatic and intelligent, she is a horrible manager. She does not trust her team, micromanages, takes everything personally, and assumes the worst in people. From her, you will learn what not to be as a leader.
