Pros
Clients, clinical teams, paid sick leave (required by WA state law), decent mileage reimbursement. Dreams Come True would be a perk if their cancellation rate expectations weren't so unrealistic.
Cons
Behavior Specialists (Behavior Technicians) are not eligible for full-time positions, meaning you will be expected to work on all federal holidays including Christmas. You do not get PTO or other traditional benefits as you are not eligible for full-time status regardless of whether you work 30-40 hours a week. To get healthcare, you will have to average 6 months at 30+ hours a week instead of just working 30 hours or working 30 hours over 3 months as basically every other ABA company does. If you have cancellations impacting that 30 hour/week average for the first lookback, you'll have to wait another 6 months for healthcare. Essentially, they only do look backs twice a year because they somehow qualified us as variable hour employees even though we technically have set schedules and are not. The illness policy is absolutely a moral failure and encourages BSs to go to work sick. For example, I am not getting my raise that I met all qualifications for due to canceling an immunocompromised client's sessions when I had COVID, as illness counts against your cancellation rate. Nobody in my cohort even knew their raise and ONE DAY OF PTO was contingent on cancellations when we completed all the requirements to qualify for it. Instead, we just got given different dates repeatedly by the company as Thanksgiving and now Christmas, which we wanted our floating holidays for, came and went. There is also no incentive to schedule make-up sessions except a paid session, as making up a canceled session has no positive impact on your cancellation rate. I can guarantee that is either due to their shoddy app (which is a whole other con by itself) or them WANTING you to not qualify for ANY benefits. We also just had record-breaking flooding in our state and were expected to risk our lives traveling into flood zones and evacuation zones rather than canceling, as cancellations for inclement weather or natural disasters are not excused for employees. They would rather us literally risk our lives than cancel sessions because they lose money due to cancellations. The newly-implemented level up program is their new ploy to make employees think they're getting some kind of appreciation from CSD for being frontline workers who are literally the only reason any of admin (who don't risk their lives or do the most important job in the field for company profit) makes any money. You'd genuinely get more benefits working for McDonald's or Amazon, of whom are also offering to pay for college degrees these days with far fewer hoops for you to jump through. This is honestly a job for young people who are still on their parents' health insurance, in college, never get sick, and are OK with risking their lives for the company's bottom line. If you have experience in the field, have kids, or are over 26 (meaning no longer on parents' insurance), I cannot warn you enough to stay away from this greedy company. CSD goes out of its way to pay its BSs as little as possible and avoid giving us healthcare while trying to manipulate every single one of its frontline employees into thinking we have it good. We do not. If you get more than one offer from an ABA company, turn down CSD. You deserve better and your hard work doing a job that is not easy should be appreciated with the bare minimum that the vast majority of ABA companies offer — a basic benefits package and full-time status if you work full-time hours.
