Pros

Great idea. Hired great talent and wonderful people who genuinely loved what they where doing and believed in it. Had amazing departments heads who's teams kept their eyes on the target and consistently delivered what was asked of them.

Cons

The C level members of this team have charisma. I list this as a con, because that is exactly ALL they have. They can look you in the eye, and lie to you, you both know what they're saying is a lie, and you tell them thank you, and you mean it. You walk away and feel guilty because you don't believe a lie. That might work when you're running a prison camp. It fails spectacularly when you try it with a technology company. When department heads and seniors in the company who are greatly respected in the company just disappear - take note. Especially when you already know the personality types of the officers of the company. Something really bad is afoot. Run away, and don't look back.

Pros

Talented and driven people who are genuinely nice and a pleasure to work with - ingredients for a great culture without trying are definitely intact. Solid technology with a unique value proposition for both businesses and consumers. Market traction and wide-open path to growth and continuing innovation.

Cons

Typical challenges that may be associated with working at a startup - non-issues, essentially.

Pros

When I first started at ChatID, it was the best job I'd ever had. Each and every employee was bright, talented, and driven to do great work every day. It was an incredible place to be at, and the energy was amazing. Gradually, things began to change. Pillars of the company began to leave, or were just suddenly gone one day. A large sales team was built up to prepare for the explosive growth that was always just around the corner, and then most of them were soon laid off so that the company could "right size." Big influential companies grew dissatisfied with the product and churned, and were replaced with tiny companies and tinier chat volume. More and more people left or were laid off, and they were never replaced. Big plans were made and then forgotten about.

Cons

ChatID is a shell of what it once was. Recently about half of the staff was laid off in one big "red wedding" style purge. The excitement and energy that used to be pervasive is now, I'm told, replaced with a mix of weariness and dread. There are no more engineers left at this tech company, unless you count the cofounders. They once employed over 50 people, now it's under 20.
