Pros
As a manager you got a discount if you placed your kid in the daycare...
Cons
.... however, you really don’t want your kid(s) here. 1) Even with the discount, I could not afford to place both my kids in the daycare. 2) Even as a manager I did not feel comfortable placing my kids here. There was ONE room out of about 20 where the teachers were not lazy/rude and sometimes even mean to the kids. 3) I felt awful about the fact that the parents thought once they dropped their kids off to their assigned room that is where they stayed. NOPE. Because CLA wanted as many kids attending as possible (because $$) that meant they were constantly over the allowed ratio of kids to teachers. So to get around this the managers were constantly rearranging the kids. It got to the point that they were even putting too young kids in an older kids rooms. I’ll never forget the trauma of a toddler girl sitting in the corner with her hands over her ears sobbing because she was terrified of being in a room that was too old for her with rambunctious kids. It haunts me to this day. One time even the INFANT room was too crowded and to combat this a manager took one of the babies and kept it in the directors room for most of the day. One of the teachers tried telling the manager the baby bottle needed to be warmed but the manager said just give it to her cold (despite what moms instructions were) and fed the baby the cold milk. Is this what you imagine happening when you drop your child off at daycare?? They are very good at making sure the kids are back in the appropriate rooms before the parent is scheduled to arrive. 4) There are a select few managers in a “clique” (yes, like high school) and if you’re not a part of it then you’re screwed. 5) Pay is extremely low. 6) Benefits awful.
