Pros
Briefly: the patients, the staff, the team-based health care delivery model, the trauma-informed care, the healing environment of the unit, the meals available for staff and patients. In detail: I have been an employee at Christ House in various roles since 2010--year-long volunteer, nurse, and provider. My time here has taught me about coming alongside patients and having the courage to be with them and my fellow staff in their vulnerable times. While employed here, the organization supported my decision to pursue my master’s and several other continuing education opportunities while working full time. The patients remain the best part of my work, and my colleagues are compassionate, caring, resilient, and fun to work with. Christ House meets or exceeds the National Institute for Medical Respite Care guidelines, and the Quality Improvement team strives to constantly improve the quality of patient care.
Cons
There is some holiday coverage for most staff positions, though this is anticipated and on par with any other 24-hour medical facility. Parking in the area is very difficult.
