At a bi-monthly company meeting, we were asked to ask people from our network to come work for Circ. After weeks of speaking with friends and ex-colleagues, a few took the opportunity and came. However, due to the immense lack of vision and strategic planning from GMs, MGs and the CEO, we were all let go with no notice. Started working with a contract for 40 hours a week. After a few weeks, the weekly working hours went up to 50 and ended in 60 by the time I was in the company for my second month. This was of course, not remunerated, as your working hour commitment is considered part of a project. Several reassurances are given at the bi-weekly company meetings. You sit in front of the CEO and listen to him read from a PPT slide. He will tell you about the plans for the future and how great the company is doing, and assure you your job is safe and you are a valued employee. A few weeks later, you will be fired with no notice and no reason behind it. Working conditions and job opportunities are extremely politicised. Most people still in the company are there because they have a personal relationship with the CEO. The rule is simple. If the CEO likes you, you are safe. If the CEO doesn't like you or doesn't know you personally (however good your performance is) you are and will be expendible.
