Pros
Flexibility to move to different domains when you feel like you're stagnating Supportive seniors (not all seniors obviously, but like all companies there are people who are passionate about their work and passing down knowledge to juniors and there are those who just want a pay check) Am still early on in my tenure in Circles, but from what i've experience so far is that management seems to be proactive about feedback although whether or not they follow up on feedback I can't say yet. But overall it seems they really care about employee's wellbeing. Workload is great actually besides the fact that you'd have to be on-call for a week or so at most which means if there were any serious crashes to the service you are working on, no matter the time, you'd have to be online trying to solve he issue. I see this as a learning opportunity for juniors but not quite positive for seniors. But then again, it's your perspective. I feel there are plenty you can learn from these call ups (which don't happen too frequently by the way). It's a positive for me as it encourages engineers to write excellent grade code. Team leads/Engineering managers seems to be very experienced and from my experience, very supportive too. Working hours are strict but i guess it depends on the severity of the task. So far i have never been required to work past working hours. I was even discouraged by my team lead to work past working hours. Free lunch in the office sometimes. Might not be a 5 star michelin meal but come on guys be grateful for the thought. Nice hybrid work setting but could be way better if they don't enforce it and only have employees come to office if REALLY NEEDED Ambitious company Yearly bonus and CSOP (Have't received mine yet as I am not here long enough) Work from anywhere policy (20 days a year)
Cons
Salary isn't great just average or slightly above market rate Could offer more work life balance by increasing the work from anywhere policy to at least 3 months per year or better yet, giving employees full control of where they work. ONLY COME TO OFFICE WHEN NEEDED. People are shifting the way they view work and Covid has shown how unpredictable life can be. The world is a huge place and if you are going to have to spend 80% of your life in one place (the office) isn't that such a wasteful life? Given the freedom to be anywhere you want to be and still get the job done is a win-win for both employee and employer given that employees are more enthusiastic about life and in return, could be more productive and involved with work. Better on-boarding materials (though i've heard that Circles are already in the process of bettering the on-boarding process and will start for July on-boarders)
