Incredible place for engineers who want ownership, real robotics work, and zero bureaucracy. - Engineering Civ Robotics Employee Review

Pros

Real robotics, real field impact. Every engineer here touches hardware, autonomy, and production deployments. It’s the opposite of theoretical R&D - your code gets tested on products! Small team, big responsibility. You get full ownership of features, not small tickets. I’ve built things end-to-end that would take years to touch at larger companies.

Cons

Not the place if you prefer a slow pace or very narrow responsibilities. You should be comfortable working across the stack.

Pros

Civ is a great place to work if you enjoy being close to the product, customers, and the real-world impact of what the company is building. The team is smart, motivated, and very hands-on, and there is a strong sense that everyone’s work directly matters. It’s exciting to be part of a company building physical technology in a space that has a lot of room for innovation.

Cons

As with many early-stage startups, things can move quickly and priorities sometimes shift. There is still structure being built, so it requires flexibility, ownership, and comfort with ambiguity.

Pros

I worked at the company for about two years and overall had a really great experience. It’s an amazing place to be if you love working with cool robotics technology and want to actually see your work out in the field making a difference. One of the biggest things I noticed is how much the culture and the general vibe in the office improved over time. When I first joined it was already a good place, but as the company grew, the founders really put in the effort to make it a more positive and enjoyable environment. You can feel the difference — everything runs a lot smoother now and I genuinely enjoyed coming to work every day. I’m also excited for the direction the company is heading. They’re working on new technologies, expanding into new areas, and you really feel like you’re part of something that’s growing fast. If I wasn’t moving out of state, I would have definitely stayed.

Cons

If I had to mention cons, I’d say that sometimes you might need to put in an extra hour or two to finish something urgent, which is pretty normal for a growing startup. Depending on your role, there can also be some travel involved. When I joined, they didn’t have a 401k yet, but they recently added it once they reached the required number of employees.
