Pros
Plenty of professional development opportunities given that CSC is a learning institute for all civil servants. Although the pay could be more competitive, I think this is more or less compensated for the abundance of staff training given in the organization. I recommend for fresh graduates to apply for a role in CSC for a 2-year exposure.
Cons
Turnover at the senior and middle management was high when I left the organization. New Admin Service officers (the "Scholars") could not wait to shake the boat and implement new initiatives to show their mettle in front of employees (the farmers). Office could have been less toxic without certain rank-and-file executives who may have been working for more than 10 years, doing the same roles, throwing their weight around, especially to freshies and new staff who maybe slight senior in position. Coming from the old school paradigm, these senior executives (likely to be their 40s-50s) have a lot of work to do to manage their egos when CSC has managed to attract promising, talented and young officers, to take on more strategic roles.
