Pros

Pay is decent. Work loads are not demanding for most.

Cons

They will lure you in claiming they are hiring you like a regular employee. What you really are is a W2 contractor who will be out of work as soon as your contract dries up. The management is cliquish with some really mean and capricious characters that shouldn't manage a McDonalds, let alone engineers. Learn this phrase early: On the Bench. Yea its how is sounds, being benched for weeks and then shown the door happens alot. There is no career advancement. Get your experience and leave. You will also most likely be assigned to some god forsaken corner of the earth. When they warn you about high travel, believe them.

Clarke Solutions Response

Thank you for the feedback. The Clarke Companies are committed to creating growth opportunities and long-term employment for our team members. We use the term “on the bench” as it represents team members available for new projects. Likewise, there are many instances where we have employees in long-term, multi-year consulting engagements. The only employees released from employment, bench or not, are released related to cultural fit and/or performance within the company. It is our responsibility to our customers and employees to strike a delicate balance between the ability to respond to changing needs in a fast paced manufacturing environment and offer long-term, stable employment. Clarke compensates all of our consultants as salaried employees and we do not furlough team members between projects. We differentiate ourselves by investing in our consultants, new and seasoned, with on-going training, paid seminars, and opportunities to work with Fortune 500 firms. As you noted, we strive to be transparent and open including the interview process where we advise potential candidates of the percentage of travel they can expect. We believe in a customer service oriented environment where in some cases extended travel may be required to exceed their expectations. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns.

Pros

Flex time is a new-hires (really any-hires) best friend. The ability to have the flexibility of a 3 day weekend in your pocket any month without worrying about taking PTO is amazing. The support that Clarke gives to a new employee, or at least one working at Eli Lilly, has been pretty helpful. The efforts put forth to make the Clarke engineers interact outside of work, like the quarterly lunches or other events, are appreciated. The people at Clarke are really great. I enjoy my Clarke coworkers at Lilly a lot; a really great bunch of folks

Cons

The job had a large lag time getting into position, then getting a project. For the first two months of employment or so, I was at maybe 10 hrs a week of work, not having any real project to directly work on between bouts of helping with testing. Eventually I got a full time project that got the position into gear, but the lag time wasn't great. This isn't to blame Clarke, it's could be just the nature of the position.
