Cons

I could go on for days. I used to work there and so many bad bad things happened. First of all, the founder Mikey is very very very vain and narcissistic person. He doesn’t even have a clue the reality of working in hospitality, the pressure that is built on you and the staff, but yet he comes in the shop demanding things to be done in the click of a finger. Some managers have even complained about this. Yet no one dared to even say anything to him because he had the “power” to fire you. If he didn’t get what he wanted; he would send a long message on the WhatsApp group chat or to someone from management and just swear and go on for hours. Then the staff would be forced to do what he wanted. Events: Whenever there are events, us the staff (sometimes even the managers) don’t even get told at LEAST a day or two in advance. We get told ON THE day that this event is happening. We would have to basically put his event first instead of serving customers. We even had to tell customers one day that everything ran out and we can’t serve them due to an event…what a huge loss of money. We didn’t even have enough time to prepare everything but we had to make at least 100 different smoothies with only 2 blenders. The pressure was absolutely horrible. With sometimes only 2 staff and 1 manager at the front. Once we managed to prepare everything. Not ONE praise from the founder himself. Not even a well done, no encouragement. It’s basically like being a slave. Managers: I haven’t really had much issues with managers but there were a few managers that really done my head in. This woman comes out of nowhere, becomes manager and just swears every 5 seconds. This man becomes manager even though he lives in the seaside part of London and doesn’t even know how to manage a workplace. He’d be better off working for Amazon. When they get pressured from The Founder, they would start bullying the staff members, screaming at them and just being extremely rude. Then they go back and gossip to the founder even though they are so hypocritical with the founder. Breaks: 30 min breaks even though you can do a 9 hour shift. Sometimes 1 hours. Depends on the manager and if they like you. Gossip/Drama: the amount of drama there is in that workplace is beyond shocking. Gossips about having s** with some of the staff between them, who would you rather sleep with in the team, they even gossip about customers appearances. If you work there don’t even get yourself in the middle of drama because you will find yourself caught up. And they will put you in the mix it doesn’t matter if you’re nice with them. Hygiene of the shop: Absolutely disgusting. No one even takes proper care of the shop. Coffee machine aren’t cleaned so you’re probably drinking yesterdays coffee drenched beans, they use dish soap to put inside of the machine to wash the machine, they don’t sweep, chips and crusts left on the floor under tables because of laziness. I had some good days there don’t get me wrong, but it’s not worth anyone’s mental health. Money is good yes, but don’t lower yourself for money. Especially not for this job.
