Pros
First of all you should know the company faced a difficult period in July 2022 due to legal and business issues. The result of this was literally the half of company being laid off immediately (but on good terms). This affected all teams, various roles, both new and long-tenured employees. Also, CTO and Head of Product have left the company in recent months. EDIT: there were more lay-offs in September 2022 Coming back to pros: - great mission I am aligned to, it certainly helped me to be extra motivated at work - most of the people were very kind and supportive, fun to work with - there was a period (spring 2022) when company had a relatively good structure, effective process were being established - good scrum implementation (but scrum master was laid off in summer 2022) - speaking of frontend code: relatively new codebase with good test coverage and of high quality
Cons
- I wish the CEO was more active in shaping and communicating company's vision and product, some other people expressed the same feeling - for me the company felt not agile enough to make important product changes in timely manner, this was severely impacting ability to attract new customers, I think it's crucial for startup to be able to innovate quickly - no enough focus on building positive and supportive dev culture, I experienced passive aggressive (and/or not kind) behaviour from some team members which prevented me from feeling truly at home - I found out there were significant salary differences between employees of similar experience, or actually important team members being paid much less than some others, I would expect more fairness and treating employees equally good (don't let anybody underpay you!) - legal issues were slowing down company's progress
