Pros
Amazing Mission & Purpose / Meaningful Work -To connect 1 million people in the developing world to digital work, while raising them up as leaders to address poverty. This is an incredible purpose that drives all of us globally everyday and helps make our work feel more meaningful. Incredible Leadership -Mark Sears (CEO & Founder) is unlike anyone I've ever met. He has a background in Software Engineering, so he's very logical and systems oriented. But he's also very compassionate visionary and people-oriented. Great a public speaking and teaching. He needs to do a TedTalk! The rest of the leadership team is incredible as well, but Mark is who I've gotten to know the best. Powerful Culture -Fast-moving and ambitious, yet never at the expense of people. People genuinely seem to love and serve one another, our clients, and our CloudWorkers. Teammates are friends and often eat meals and play games (ping pong, foosball, etc) together. Global/Cross-Cultural -We have have offices in 4 countries (Reading, UK - Global HQ / Durham, NC, USA / Kathmandu, Nepal / Nairobi, Kenya). We also have people travel between different offices to experience other cultures and get to know their teammates around the world. We greatly value the different cultures that we work in. Disruptive Clients -Some of our clients are the most innovative technology companies in the world (Microsoft, Ibotta, Drive.ai, Expensify, Pilot.ai, etc). There are plenty of innovative tech companies we're not working with yet, but hopefully we will be soon. Opportunity to Learn & Grow -There are few places where you can learn as much and at such a quick pace as a startup. We're all working in focused areas, but help out with other projects as well for different teams because we're working towards the same mission. Here are some of the things you would learn at CloudFactory: Working with people in different cultures and timezones, how startups and businesses function, how to scale a company, and probably just about anything you'd want to learn you can ask one of the your teammates. Career Advancement -We don't really focus on hierarchy much here, but you can progress pretty quickly because of how fast we're growing. We definitely lean towards investing in passionate people who want to grow than constantly bringing in the highly experienced experts. We are a startup so everything isn't mapped out for you like when you were in school so you need to take initiative, but no one is going to hold you back here from pursuing your dreams and growth. You will be supported and encouraged for sure.
Cons
The only Con would probably be that the transition to being more remote-friendly is still in progress. People work remotely sometimes. It's very accepted in the US & UK, but I'm not sure about Nepal & Kenya. I hope we get to a place that wherever in the world someone amazing for our mission and culture is located they can join our team. These might be considered Cons, but not to the right people for our team. :) If you don't like a fast-paced startup with ambiguity and constantly changing priorities, then this isn't for you. People who thrive on high structure and everything laid out for them like in a big company/corporation likely wouldn't enjoy it here. But there are always exceptions! If you don't genuinely love and want to help people, you wouldn't like it here either. We're all about loving and serving people. If you're just about making money and advancement, this isn't for you either. If you're not a highly ethical person of character and integrity, this isn't for you either. If you're not humble or don't value humility, you wouldn't like it here. If you're a lone wolf type that runs people over, you wouldn't like being part of our interdependent team. If you don't have time to build relationships, you wouldn't enjoy the CloudFactory family. If you're not open to constructive feedback and opportunities to grow as a person and professional, you wouldn't like the open communication that helps us all become better versions of ourselves. If you don't use your words to speak truth and life to others, then you wouldn't thrive here. We make complex things simple. We think big, start small, scale fast. We do more with less and operate lean. We don't just throw money or people at problems. We respect our client's data and our company data. We love and serve people!
