They won't give you access to the systems you were hired to administer. The COO will walk by your desk making snide comments about how you need something to do. A systems administrator CANNOT DO ANYTHING without access to the systems they were HIRED to administer.
They let me go after a week and 2 days without giving me access to anything and throwing me at a backlogged queue of tickets that were not kept up on.
If hired into the IT department of two people, including you, do not make the IT manager feel insecure for any reason. You can tell they struggle with this by the size of the truck they drive. A small semi. Do not criticize or make any suggestions. It will be seen as a threat to their power, you won't be given any access to anything, then froze out and fired.
The firing process is extremely harsh. I was under no suspicion of being let go. Within 10 minutes i was escorted off of the premises after being escorted to the HR directors office. No reason or notice given. No one has reached out with an explanation.
I have never been let go or fired in my entire existence being a part of multiple organizations. I hold a 5 year degree and multiple certifications in the industry as well as 6 years of experience. Today i have been in a similar role for a couple months. It is absolutely not me.
