Pros

Hourly pay so you get paid no matter how busy or slow it is…. The clients are used to the process so no matting or nasty aspects to this position. It’s clean and beautiful and reputable proud to be employed by them. On occasion management feed us when we don’t have time to grab food there’s also keurig for caffeine fiends . Management is awesome as is reception staff .

Cons

It’s 1099 so insurance and taxes have to be taken into account . No bathers which doesn’t make sense No opportunities for advancement No employee handbook to reference for actual policy and procedures because there likely aren’t any rules are being made up as we go. Very little grooming experience taken into account in the design of all locations some aspects of the design can actually cause hardship on groomer and hinder the process. (Ie lack of grooming tables and dryers at each station as opposed to each room so each room should have one heated one non heated dryer as we need both an ac AND dehumidifier and temperature gauge to monitor the room temperature)

Pros

Pretty place to work at. Diverse team, diverse clients.

Cons

Owner overcharges clients. Nails and ears are included with grooming, but if owners ask for nails and ears or teeth, they tack on a $30 "ears, tears, teeth combo". Pay structure is inappropriate and illegal for California workers. They call you an independent contractor (to free themselves from paying taxes) (this should mean you're free from the constraints of their management) but micromanage you and dictate how you work anyways. Owner complains about any spot of dirt and claims the place is growing black mold. Someone has never seen mildew before. Get to cleaning, because its not your groomers job to scrub the walls. They're cheap and re-use toothbrushes on dogs without cleaning/disinfecting them. The groom rooms are not sound-proof as they claim and the loud music they blast in the front of the building comes through the front wall into the grooming room. The bass and noises can be distracting to dogs who you are meticulously trying to hand scissor.

Pros

There are dogs to pet etc.

Cons

Terrible business practices, staffing, scheduling etc all left in the air. Told a lot of fluff with no substance to back it up. Never paid me maybe he squanders unpaid employees wages to make up for lost clients he talks so rudely to. Disappointing in the entire operation could not bring myself to misrepresent the quality of care animals are given when left here.
