Pros
I met some wonderful people here with tremendous work ethic. Most people really care about the company and the guests and come to work to promote Collette as the leader in guided travel. All employees are given the opportunity to travel but it is a lottery system and it depends on your role in the company, so not everyone gets to experience the tours. Benefits are decent but not competitive to other companies.
Cons
Pay is rotten. If they could get you to work for free, they would. They pay lower than most companies in the area but they tout the "culture", benefits, bonuses and work life balance. You can expect your annual 2-3% annual increase (which doesn't seem to be based on merit) so everyone is getting the same meager raises despite contribution or work ethic. Promotions and raises are not very common unless you are "in" with the family. Nepotism is everywhere being a family owned company. Under-qualified people are hired or promoted based on their relationships to the owners or executives. The culture is terrible! Don't expect to come here and work in a fun, energizing, innovative, collaborative environment. Having fun is looked down upon and only a select few are given the voice to be innovative or asked to join the table to collaborate. There is no work life balance. You are expected to eat, sleep, breathe and bleed Collette. There is no acknowledgment or appreciate for this. The way employees have been treated since the pandemic proves what the company expects and thinks of their employees.
