Pros

Get what you can out of it and move on.

Cons

Small town/county mentality. Rigid environment. Lousy pay all of which you can find online. Salary offered will only be at step 1 or 2. Anything else needs board approval. IT/phones/equipment are sub par. People who live here, work at the county. You an outsider even if you live here for 20+years. Its who you know, and what's your last name and the family you belong to. Most of whom are in the farming business. Even the unions or association's as they call them here do a lousy job on behalf of the ee population.

Pros

Outstanding benefits and leadership who truly cares about employees (whether some employees believe it or not; you cannot please everyone). Always seeking ways to improve the work environment and strengthen the collaborations among employees and departments.

Cons

Like most government entities, Colusa County is busy trying to bring their workplace into the current year (government operates 5-20+ years behind, due to all the bureaucratic red tape [slow processes due to outdated codes/policies, poorly times & unfunded state mandates forcing focus on items where other items should be the priority, etc.]). Also, fiscal limitations don't allow for doing everything that we would like to do for our dedicated and hard-working employees.

Cons

High turnover. Expected to learn everything at once, stressful.
