Where do I start? There are significant issues currently affecting the organisation. While its values and mission are admirable, the leadership team is failing to deliver on them. A number of highly experienced and capable employees have left the organisation, including people from operations, strategy, and finance who were among the most practical and insightful contributors. At the same time, there appears to be no clear plan for business growth or for reducing exposure to upcoming loan obligations. There are also serious concerns about leadership decisions. Management has realigned titles and awarded pay increases while resisting EBA increases, which sends a poor message to staff. Flexible work arrangements are extremely limited, which is out of step with modern workplace expectations. The lack of transparency around the people survey is also concerning. If the results are as poor as they seem, leadership needs to take accountability and reflect on the reasons behind that feedback. The restructuring process was poorly planned and reactive. It appears that anyone who disagreed with management was either made redundant or moved into a lower role, which has damaged trust further. Overall, the culture is broken and the systems are ineffective. Without serious leadership change and a more considered strategy, the organisation will continue to struggle.

Good location, supportive colleagues, great purpose and housing model.

There is a toxic culture from the top down, employees have little job control, and have to deal with constantly changing directives. Constant restructures and unethical redundancies further create instability and fear among staff. It should be noted that there is a significant staff turnover rate at the senior leadership level, and little is being done to genuinely address the toxic culture that runs through this working environment. Managing Director intimidates and constantly moves the goal posts - and many staff with direct lines to the MD, including several Exec Assistants, have not lasted long. These factors create major psychological hazards, many staff are burnt out and anxious. There is also little to no flexibility for hybrid working - a WFH policy introduced last year was conservative and did not follow internal policy guidelines. HR does daily headcounts to make sure people are in the office. The growing number of negative Glassdoor reviews has been acknowledged at the company level, and MD has deflected responsibility back down to management and individual staff instead to create a positive culture. If you are considering working for CEHL, I would not recommend.
