You sometimes end up transitioning to multiple units within a shift which means more patient reports, more charting, and more flexibility on your end. This rarely happens though! No nursing team centered approach to care unless you work on the med/surg unit where they honestly do a pretty good job when appropriately staffed. Management is like most places, too focused on trivial items (white board updates) verses actual patient care like bathing, dressing, grooming. Corporate financial goals outweigh appropriate ratios to take care of patients and provide basic daily cares (like many other places).
