Pros
The people who work there are lovely. The services on offer are great but they’re no longer the best hospice provider by any means.
Cons
Sadly the management and strategies are very poor. Staff are expected to take on multiple roles where they can’t fully focus on their primary role. There’s absolutely no progression and no money for training. There are some megalomaniac leaders who don’t represent the majority but have a very strong influence. The staff turnover is very high, particularly in the corporate and nursing area’s. It seemed like every day you heard of another key member of staff with lots of experience leaving. It’s a highly stressful environment with policies that are sub-standard and extremely poor communication. Leadership are trying to drag the organisation into the 21st century with little to no investment in their staff who are on the ground trying their best. A perfect example of that is the new co-ordination centre that’s a complete waste of £££ as there’s no functional structure, processes or staff to man it! Shocking really. I fear the pandemic may have been the final nail in what was a wonderful institution’s coffin.
