Cons
After several years working at Concept, I chose to quit. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. Unkept promises. I was verbally promised compensation, flexibility, and celebrations for my work on multiple occasions. None of which I ever received. 2. I witnessed racist and sexist behavior from higher ups. And without an HR department, there was no safe place to report these actions. 3. The current employee handbook in the year 2019 was written in 2001 (extremely outdated) 4. There is no general maternity leave policy. It is up to your manager for the time you get off. “Unlimited vacation” is not unlimited (or even close). 5. The owner of the company appears to lack empathy for his employees. His emails come across as condescending and insensitive. 6. The lack of diversity: the company is run by white men. 7. Not being listened to or being trusted. Many of my coworkers have voiced their opinions and needs which were ignored by people in power. This includes ideas for growth and concerns for sexual and racial harassment. 8. Unclear and vague expectations. Zero performance reviews. And rare one on ones with management. If you want to feel valued and respected as an employee or as a human being, I suggest you find somewhere else to work.
