Pros
I relocated to Germany to work at Contentful and have experienced many positives while working here so far. * The work/life balance here is fantastic. Coming from the US work culture where I was incredibly stressed out and working long days, I find that people are serious about keeping to work hours and respecting life outside of work. Being around people who prioritize life and wellness outside of work has helped me be more balanced. * Education budget. The education budget provided to employees on an annual basis is generous. It helps me to renew my certifications, learn new skills, and go to conferences if I wish to. * The people. I truly enjoy working with the people on my team and my manager. I enjoy working with those in engineering, design, tech writing, and product. The recruiters and hiring managers do a great job at hiring high-quality people who are humble, committed to their growth, and like to collaborate.
Cons
All workplaces have some minuses. Contentful is a company going through some growing pains right now in that they are learning how to scale from a start-up to a mid-size company. A major point is that as we continue to grow as a company, not everyone needs to be in all meetings and share their opinions all the time. This slows down decision-making.
