Pros

When I interviewed with the firm's leaders, I was told they fly in all 330 employees from 14 offices across the U.S. for a company meeting and year-end party. You can bring your family and, many do, but the company doesn't pay for them, of course. It all sounded hard to believe, but I just returned from my first all-company meeting at the Phoenician in Phoenix, and it was amazing. I met at least 100 co-workers -- many of whom I'd spoken to on the phone or exchanged emails, others are people I'd probably never have the opportunity to meet if they didn't bring all employees together. It sounds cliche, but it really was a bonding experience. At the company meeting, the CEO gave a brief overview of the company's history and as a new employee, I really appreciated that. He shared highlights and fun facts from each office (some offices prepared some really clever videos), and he gave out awards to recognize those who go above and beyond. Five, 10 and 15-year anniversaries were also acknowledged with gifts. We all walked out feeling inspired and ready to help the firm double in size in the next five years. The meeting was followed by an open bar, an elegant poolside buffet dinner, dancing under the stars, and a casino night party. This company believes in work hard/play hard! Every firm I've worked for has said company culture was important and to some degree it was true, but Core States really put their money where their mouth is.

Cons

I'd never heard of this firm before I went to work for them--they're like a well-kept secret.
