Pros
Corning is the world leader in specialty glass and ceramics. If you love glass, there is no better place to work. Corning is one of the few companies that supports a healthy balance of applied and fundamental/exploratory research. Researchers are encouraged to pursue their own interests and offered many opportunities for growth and training. The work environment is very friendly and highly cooperative. Corning has a polite small-town culture that fosters a sense of family. There is a feeling that "we're all in this together." It is obvious that most people choose to work for Corning because they are passionate about what they do and about what Corning seeks to accomplish as a company. That is part of what makes the research culture here so invigorating. Corning has some of the top scientists in the world working on life-changing innovations. Combined with a friendly, support environment and many opportunities for growth, what's not to love?
Cons
No major cons to speak of. I've spent nearly half my life working at Corning's Sullivan Park research facility, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
