Pros

I'm pretty optimistic, just want to be clear about my bias. I have not had the easiest life growing up, so I expect to work very hard and to be recognized for it. That being said; - Great experience, especially if you think you want to teach (I don't) - Kind coworkers during my time. I ended up playing Dota and other things with the great people I worked with - Opportunity to learn and grow. This was one of my first jobs when I moved to Seattle (from Boston right out of school) and I will admit I was feeling depressed at the time. But they gave me a chance, and because of it, I really gained a lot - The boss was really flexible because I gave him the same. He would constantly open opportunities and ways for me to work more hours or gain more experience. I think a lot of people don't know how tough it is to run a business from the ground up and in my opinion this

Cons

I personally value and respect when my managers and leaders can explain their choices. I think it's important to build a relationship where the management respects and trusts the people they hire. I do feel I had this, and I know the experience may vary so I want to be upfront. - I worked 2 other jobs (3 total) to meet rent and eat poorly (this is an American problem though, not unique to this role) - The commutes were sometimes tough if you're new to the area ( I always left early to make sure I could make it on time)

Pros

I’ve worked here for 8 years, and have loved the environment and flexibility of the team. The work I did in this company, with their well-constructed teaching methods and commitment to small class sizes, inspired my entire view on teaching. They also provided me with opportunities that I didn’t expect to get, trusting me with a Webmaster position that helped me shift into the Software Engineering field. It’s also really nice that I’ve been able to know the founder, and to be inspired by his passion and to have the privilege of his mentorship.

Cons

There are some obvious drawbacks that are just part of an after-school program: inflexible schedules, different schools every day, and minimal hours. However, they were understanding of my limitations and always made the days that I was available work. They even kept me in the system for several quarters when I wasn’t able to work shifts, but hoped to eventually return.
