It’s for a certain type of person. You’ll be working way over your contracted hours and the pay doesn’t reflect that or the stress that you’ll endure. Judges treat you like dirt if you’re not a solicitor or barrister. You’ll have a huge caseload and just be expected to deal with it whilst also covering people’s hearings left right and centre. It’s always short staffed compared to how much work there is and you’re thrown into the deep end with not much training. You sink or you swim. It’s impossible to be organised in this job so don’t even bother trying. You’ll be asked to drop things and travel at short notice A LOT. Cases you work on are insured clients so you can’t turn them away. They include a lot of really awful, messy cases that make you want to scream into a void.
