Pros

Not an overly complicated job. Quite fun and fulfilling if you have good support- the people I worked with over the years were some of the best people I know. Meet lots of different people with interesting backgrounds and experiences. Working with interesting stock, if you are familiar with it and have the time to talk with customers, it's easy to bring up all kind of things that they might like, and problem solving like that can be fulfilling.

Cons

KPI focus items are niche and hard to meet, especially on busy days, without sacrificing customer experience or service speed. Tense relationship with upper management- it can feel like they are fighting against you at times without offering solutions, and that their expectations do not match reality. They watch the team through the cameras off-location and contact store management if they see items such as drinks being kept behind the counter out of view of the customer. It does not seem as if they have worked on a store floor in years. The company keeps on managers who have proven to not do their job correctly, and to not treat their staff correctly, at the cost of losing multiple other staff members. And most importantly... they have not changed the music in years.

Pros

Good hours (While I was there) Flexible schedule Nice pay

Cons

A lot of decisions were made not by management, but by higher ups at the company. Our stock was also decided on by some sort of computer algorithm, so we’d often have stuff in the back we couldn’t put on shelves without stuffing them. Overall, I think I got out just in time because former coworkers told me the hours got so bad that people were forced to go on food stamps.
