Pros
You will be surrounded by very smart people you can learn from. There is focus on personal and professional development. My career has grown here and I've liked having a say in that and being apart of it. Having worked at two other large Colorado employers prior, I can say the culture is really unique here and special. It can be fast paced, which I enjoy. Our benefits package has progressed a lot from when I started. DaVita now has a 401k match, cool programs like Milk Stork and Bridge to your Dreams launched and maternity leave offering improved. I've also appreciated the innovative nature of DaVita, which is hard to find in a large organization. What keeps me here is the people, my team, my leader and the people around me. You will be pushed here. I continue to be impressed with our senior leadership. Working in healthcare is inspiring, we all want to improve patients quality of life. Even Corporate types like me.
Cons
Work-life balance is possible. I'm an example of that. You need to set the boundaries and re-align priorities with boss. Tradeoff conversations can be productive and lead to balance. At times, I've found there have been a few teams trying to solve the same problem and sometimes there are too many decision makers in the pot. You have to ask up front who all needs to approve this change and how to get that approval. Healthcare annual premiums feel high.
