Pros
Beautiful work environment, great view of the lake,
Cons
I would like to begin this by stating that my review is solely based on my experience with the current CEO. The previous CEO had her issues, but at least you knew where you stood.
Current management is consistent with two things: being extremely secretive about any and all information unless you’re a VP or above; the second is favoritism. The good ones are pushed out and the rotten eggs are promoted. The reason? The current CEO only hires “yes” people. Challenge her, respectfully even, and you are immediately put on the naughty list.
Regarding the organization as a whole? The fact that they call themselves a “nonprofit” is mind blowing. This is very much a for profit organization. They tout themselves as a “garden for all”, but what they really mean is they’re a garden for those who are comfortable spending hundreds of dollars per visit.
I was a member for several years prior to working for the garden and I sadly let my membership expire when it was up for renewal. There are no benefits to members outside of what is basically a season pass to a GARDEN. No more free member events, members have to register their cars AND pay for parking at special events now. This place is now a money grab and it is sadly no longer a place where employees feel proud to call their own.
