Pros
Educational environment; sometimes the place was fun. There are a lot of options to get extra training if you're motivated to put in the time. Benefits in the form of days off are much better than industry.
Cons
Leadership is spineless and afraid to stand for anything. Crony-ism is rampant and anyone in a position of leadership exemplifies the Peter Principle. Pay is pretty bad and way under-market compared to equivalent jobs in industry.
