Pros
1. Worked with some of the best people. 2. Unlimited PTO. 3. A good place to start, not a good place to stay.
Cons
One major downside of the company is that despite having amazing colleagues, there is a prevailing sense of disempowerment when it comes to offering suggestions or feedback on leadership's requirements for new features. While the team is filled with talented individuals, there seems to be a lack of openness to new ideas, stifling innovation and growth within the company. There is also a sense of fear associated with speaking up against any decisions made by the leadership. The management often implements changes under the guise of "reorganization," but in reality, it can result in employees being let go. This environment of uncertainty creates an atmosphere where employees are hesitant to express their concerns or provide constructive criticism, ultimately hindering progress and fostering a culture of silence. New leadership has steered the product away from what once made it unique and remarkable. Instead of preserving its distinctive qualities, leadership has become fixated on imitating competitors and conforming to their standards. As a result, the company is now playing a constant game of "follow the leader" rather than setting new trends or standing out in the market. This lack of innovation and originality is disheartening and raises concerns about the company's long-term success. The company also faces a significant challenge due to the combination of tight deadlines and vague, subpar directives, leading to compromised product quality. The pressure to meet aggressive timelines often results in rushed decision-making and scrapping better experiences. Consequently, the final product suffers, falling short of expected standards. Another notable concern is the disproportionate growth of the sales and operations teams within the company. Both teams seem to lack a comprehensive understanding of the product, resulting in two contrasting issues. On one hand, the teams tend to overpromise to clients, setting unrealistic expectations that the product cannot fulfill within the timeline. On the other hand, when faced with challenges or shortcomings, they often resort to blaming the engineering team, without taking sufficient accountability. Lastly, there is a tendency for higher-ups to take credit for the work of individual contributors or the disempowered employees who invest their time and expertise into projects, only to see their accomplishments overshadowed by higher-level management claiming credit for the ideas and/or successes. This not only diminishes the morale and motivation of individual contributors but also undermines the principles of fairness and recognition within the organization. There is no trust here.
