Pros
In my 20+ years of working experience I've never had this kind of working environment. First of all, the leadership team is all women. Some of the pressures I've felt in the past as a women in tech are just non-existent. It makes doing my job 100% easier. We are encouraged to find our own rhythms and create our own schedules that work for our lives. I'm 100% remote and across the country from most of the team, yet I don't feel a disconnect with all of the team building, Slack participation, meetings, and fun online get-togethers. I feel like leadership, and all team members, listen and value everyone's opinions. We are all open to making mistakes and working together if something needs correcting. Most of the team is quite a bit younger, but I value the millennial mindset of how and what work should be and the role it should take in one's life. Compared to my other work experiences and that of my partner, I have the better job - hands down.
Cons
What I would consider normal growing pains for a start-up, but I've experienced honesty when mistakes have occurred and a willingness to listen and learn. The salary range is pretty low for industry standards, but leadership was open about that as well.
