Pros

DataDrill has a commitment to client service, and is among the top O&G communications provider in the industry, this is what I hear from our clients when I see them in the field. The company also values the employees, and has a great culture, and puts a lot of emphasis on doing things in a safe manner. As a field tech I get to work independently, but at the same time I feel like I have all the support I need from the office.

Cons

DataDrill is a smaller family based company, which isn't a bad thing, but it does mean the benefits are not that of a larger business, but they are what you would expect from a smaller company. We also can work some long days on occasion which can be tiring, but good on the pay check.

Pros

Co-workers are great and friendly and SUPER SUPER fun to work with. Steve is a great manager. They know how to have fun and work example being taking the afternoon off to play some floor hockey. The entire team will pull together to help out, managers won't leave their team in the lurch cause it isn't " their responsibility" anymore. Relaxed environment even when things are a bit crazy. Okay starter job for Service desk. Have down time to study if your a student or working on getting new skills.

Cons

- On-call; the call is HORRENDUS your waken up all the time for short 10-15 mins call just for a simple license renewal. -Cliental; You have to deal with a bunch of old guys who have been in the industry for decades but have not kept up with changes, you are expected to support software that is SUPER specific to the industry, and when someone calls in needing help its not a oh this is not working its more of a how do I do my job please show me cause these guys can't keep up with changes. These same guy can be down right abusive when they don't follow their own procedures and something breaks or isn't saved properly. Yes, we get that it you last $$$$ that day sorry it isn't our fault blame the way the software was designed. -HR; I wouldn't call this person HR even though it is their title, they are BY FAR the most UNPROFESSIONAL its quite shocking given the great culture of the company behind close doors she is just an awful person. -Lack of growth; Don't come here expecting to be able to grow internally you can't this company is built on nepotism, which is fine but all upper positions are filled by people who LUCKILY are good but the glass ceiling is pretty low once you join. -Industry Specific; These guys support a specific industry and a specific part of that industry don't think you will learn new skill or tool that you can take with you. Everything learned was utterly useless I actually started to forget other useful skill as they were not required at this job. If you went to SAIT or UofC and just graduated going here is okay but don't stay for more then a year you will forget everything you learned just to be proficient at the job. But nothing you learned will really be useful as everything they do is super specific to the service they provide.
