Pros
Innovative company with top-notch technologies in health IT. Work is interesting and challenging, and you can see the difference you are making to the real-world data and applications, which is exciting. Also, you are surrounded by talented peers who care about what they do, which is important for me personally. It’s a very supportive environment in that people will go out of their way to offer help, and would not judge you at all if you have to shuffle your normal schedule to take care of sick kids, etc. Working from home is an option, which people take advantage of all the time, and again, no judgement as long as you deliver the work.
Salary and benefits are competitive. I was impressed with the fact that a small company like Diameter has got paternity leave policy, which is absent from all of my prior employers (startup to mid-size).
Upper management is fairly transparent on the directions and financial status of the company, which is appreciated.
I will say that there are definitely times that people need to work late nights and weekends for urgent fixes/supporting client go live /etc, but I think that’s the nature of all startup or small companies in a competitive industry. Vacation and PTO is well respected. I took a 2-week vacation and nobody bothered me.
Cons
If you are someone that only cares about paycheck, or used to a micro-management environment, this is not the company for you.
