Pros

I liked my coworkers, zero good things to say otherwise

Cons

The owner is on a constant power trip, he got the business bought for him as a teenager and it shows. The groomers had a big cut to their commission recently and when it was complained about at a meeting, the response was to suspend & fire people. This is not nearly the first time very shady/illegal things have gone down with firings. Upper management will fully gaslight you. The district manager and her partner work from home together even though no one else is allowed to work at the same location as a loved one/family member. The salon manager does all their dirty work while talking crap about them and every other employee. The salons are super cramped & dirty. Don’t be fooled by the Del Mar location when you first interview, it’s the newest & only one that gets repaired on a timely manner since that’s where the salon manager works. Honestly I have endless bad things to say about this place, they will take advantage of you at every chance. We somehow don’t even have direct deposit. Just don’t work here if you’re expecting to get treated somewhat ok as an employee.

Pros

Working with dogs is great, coworkers were amazing, fairly inclusive workplace. Humanity before vanity grooming practices.

Lack of communication, owners/upper management don't believe or trust their employees. Broken/dirty equipment. Low pay for standard of living in SoCal.

Dirty Dogs Response

I'm sorry that you didn't think there was enough communication from upper management while you worked at Dirty Dogs. We hold monthly management meetings (often including assistant managers) and we send regular emails to our manager email group. We also have a What's app thread where we send regular communication. Our managers carry responsibility of ensuring many of these communications get disseminated across the teams. We will continue to work on more ways to communicate so everyone feels valued.
