Rather than submitting her two-week notice, a keyholding shop manager didn’t arrive for her shift in August 2022. She was unresponsive and indifferent to texts/ calls from coworkers and the owner the day of, trying to ensure she was OK. After ghosting her team didn't return shop keys to her store for five days causing job safety and liability issues. Since this small, locally owned, and seasonal ice cream location was unexpectantly missing a shop manager without notice, store hours had to be eliminated for the last six weeks of service, limiting the number of hours her former team could earn paychecks. Her manager position was provided a full hourly rate with no tip credit taken by the employer. She also participated in a point-based cash/credit card tip pool (as a manager) company-wide within the team she managed--along with full benefits--making on average $25-35 hr with no previous food service management experience. Also participated in a 100% employer-matching 401K. This team member was full-time per the shop manager job description, averaging 38 hours a week with two consecutive days off to create a healthy work-life balance.
