Pros

High energy, always good food/snacks in th e office thanks to a staff constantly buying food and snacks to collect points on her credit card. Some leftover freebie tickets to events.

Cons

Too much dramas, conceits, greed, self-righteousness, jealousy - all around who gets to travel overseas and other cities and stay five star hotel with company’s money. Petty and wasteful.

Pros

We are at the forefront of everything happening downtown and regardless of your role, you have the opportunity to make an impact that can be seen and felt across the city. There is so much opportunity for growth/learning (including in areas that might be outside of your specific role). We work hard but also have a lot of fun and get to experience downtown, our city and its people in so many unique ways.

Cons

Our work moves fast and, like any smaller nonprofit organizations, we get things done with limited resources (time, $, people). That environment is not the right fit for everyone, but can be tremendously rewarding at the end of the day if it is.

Pros

Enthusiastic and focused on mission. Good relationship-builders. Effective at marketing and promoting.

Cons

Big gulf between senior management and worker bees in terms of both salary and recognition. Very demanding and stressful work at times. Not a good work/life balance. Many junior staff have no idea what senior leadership does to merit their high salaries. Senior management does not plan well for the longer term (more than a year). Some senior leaders are not good at giving kudos to junior staff for successes or accepting responsibility for their own mistakes. Lots of turnover at the junior level in the last year.
