Pros
This really is a fun place to work. The drone industry presents tough challenges that are fun to work through with colleagues, most of whom are enthusiastic. The benefits and perks are over the top (health and wellness credit, 401k (no match), unlimited vacation, paid health insurance). Flexibility to work from home or remotely (blessing and a curse). Breakfast (pantry) and lunch (catered) every day is great!
Cons
Departmental review. SALES: They do a great job with what they have, work hard, and are under experienced leadership. Pound for pound, this seems to be the strongest department in the house (I am not in sales). MARKETING: A constant work in progress but have potential. Lots of historical turmoil in this department. The case studies and webinars they create seem to help but there can be more of an organizational impact here. Need more structure. PRODUCT: One of the most important departments in the company, yet it is poorly managed. The product road map and decisions around it sometimes seem like a mystery. Understaffed. ENGINEERING: Recently have acquired experienced leadership who have restructured the way things are done for the better. No shortage of bugs in the software mean more attention must be paid to quality control. OVERALL: Seems like bad habits related to culture and attitude still exist from when the company was smaller. Lack of real-world work experience from a significant portion of the company has created a vibe of carefree optimism which can eventually become more toxic than absolute realism. Significant remote workforce can be challenging. If you're looking for a place with specific/planned internal career growth opportunities, DroneDeploy may not be the best choice for you.
