Pros
I enjoyed working with some of the long-standing employees, who were quick to mentor me. The manager who hired me, though disorganized, was a highly effective boss. His guidance created a great culture in our store. As one of the largest stores, a 24 hour one with a Baskin Robbins, I got experience working all different times of day on all positions, and meeting all kinds of people. The regular customers were some of the kindest in the area. Tips were always awesome, and I always got time off when I asked in advance.
Cons
I was hired as there was a turnover of managers, and our newer manager had much higher expectations of me as a first time worker at Dunkin. She was quick to criticize, and hardly ever offered to show me a way to improve. This made it hard for me to want to go above and beyond. I was also frequently talked to for getting coverage from people who 'were not good morning people.' I understand that great customer service is essential to Dunkin, but it didn't seem like this should be my responsibility. I thought it should be management's role to encourage better customer service from others. I also never knew how many hours I could expect week to week, which was difficult to deal with financially.
