Pros
In the first few years there were lots of development opportunities. The work was varied and interesting and there were lots of opportunities for travel. Benefits and salary were competitive.
Cons
Towards the end I felt increasing pressure to develop in a technical role with no prospect of real advancement and no recognition. Management opportunities were only given to the chosen few and after 5 years I was told I didn't have enough experience to be a team leader! During a recent restructure younger engineers like me seemed to be specifically targetted for redundancy so I took the money and ran. I realised how under-valued I was when I walked into a new job with more pay and responsibility straight after my notice period. I feel sad that it ended this way despite the fact that I got results and clearly had the ability to progress. I should have left several years ago.
