Pros
- 2 days catered lunch
- "Freedom" to innovate
- Great engineering team before a majority was laid off
Cons
- Micromanaging
- No real consistent technical leadership
- Extreme amounts of security theater (gate keeping and "feel good" measures)
- 2 rounds of layoffs within 3 months; laying off 50% of the company
-- This metric ensures that anyone on a visa cannot renew. BEWARE.
- Layoffs as a cost-cutting measure instead of strategic
- Uncompetitive pay and equity offering
- Extremely low valuation target (death spiral)
- Rewards success, stability, and skill with layoffs.
- Expects you to work after being laid off
- Company has no real competitive edge in the market
- Extremely long work hours exceeding 24 hour shifts on occasion dealing with outages. No concept of real "on-call" escalation.
- 30 minute standups
If you enjoy having to work 18 hour shifts because another engineer broke your system at 6pm on a Friday then sign right up. The team is constantly at odds being able to build out features and support what was already built. Empty promises to improve and fix the technical debt were met with "work harder".
