Pros

Being a family owned company, the highest levels of management are always available. They are dedicated to their employees, and will promote across divisions.

Cons

At times employees who do a good job in their role, are not considered for promotions, because the company does not want to train a new employee for the position.

Pros

They pay for training with the caveat that you work it off for a certain amount of time. They have a lot of boats so if one doesn't work out, you can find one that is a good fit.

Cons

They promote whoever is most convenient, so a third mate who just graduated 6 months ago might be a chief mate but an experienced mate with capatains recommendations for the position will not get promoted, due to convenience. They don't pay anywhere near the best at all. They are one of the lowest paying in the gulf. During the economic downturn in the gulf they laid people off but the owners had a Ferrari delivered to the office while in the middle of layoffs. Real high class decision there.
