Pros

Flexible, easy to get hired.

Cons

YOU HAVE to pay for your guard card out of pocket about $115 They say they have work available until you get your guard card 2-4 weeks later. FLAT OUT LIE.. IF you where to call scheduling they would say " Sorry we don't have anything for "EVENT STAFF" right now," and then ask "Do you have your Guard Card?" So pretty much you will not work until your guard card comes back(Period).... That could be 2 to 4 weeks. The base pay is $9.20/hr but if your work the padres Games or Football games or SDSU GAMES its $14.97/hr. Most of the time you will be making $9.20... They MISLEAD you in the interview process to think you will be working the Padres games here in San Diego. You have to be Petco Park( the baseball stadium) certified, which is an additional training that is offered once a year. To work SDSU games you have to be over 21 and Alcohol certified. That training is offered once a year. If you work for them, Each time you work you are secretly being ranked by a manager and that gets sent to the scheduling department and based on your ranking they will only present you with certain assignments and say they have no others available, WHICH IS ANOTHER LIE!!!!! YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE OUT OF POCKET.. Solid black pants, they prefer dickies with not pockets.. $25 Flashlight $10 miniNote pad: $5 Solid black shoes: $50 White undershirts: $15 TO START THIS JOB IT WILL COST YOU $220 up front and then you'll have to wait 2-4 weeks before you get to wrk for them @ 9.20/hr.

Pros

- Flexible schedules - Many different working opportunities - Work while attending fun events - Sense of accomplishment

Cons

- Pay by the hour wages suck - Long shifts at times - Some superviosrs have ego issues - Shift supervisors need better instruction and accountability - Was not able to be relieved from my post until my replacement showed - which he never did. Management had to get someone else to come in - THREE hours later! Must remain flexible with taking assignments since management/schedulers don't know how to plan for the worst. What if I had a family or another job to tend to after my shift?
