Pros

Good benefits, great co-workers, remote work for many positions.

Cons

Blackstone/Vista took over and the company became focused only on profits and margins and not on customers or employees. You are a disposable resource to them and they are currently replacing all employees with off-shore positions because the margins are higher for off shore workers. They are getting rid of people with 20-30 years of experience, so the quality of support is crashing. Those who still work there all know that their days are numbered.

We couldn't agree with you more on the quality of our benefits, the flexibility we provide, & most importantly our awesome people! One of the things that makes Ellucian so special is the depth and breadth of the expertise that we’re able to bring to higher education institutions ~ which is enabled by the experiences and history that our employees bring to work every day. We’re so appreciative of the hard work and dedication of our global teams – including those individuals and leaders who have dedicated decades of their careers to transforming higher education and helping enabling student success. Over the last three years, our partnership with Blackstone and Vista have been accelerants to enabling so much transformation throughout the organization, which has resulted in greater impact on the products we build, the institutions we support, and our vibrant & inclusive culture, as evidenced by our engagement survey results for the last two consecutive years of more than 90% participation with 83% engagement ~ which are all times highs in both participation & engagement for our company.

Pros

Ellucian had some genuinely brilliant people. I mean real talent. Smart engineers, sharp support people who could look at a broken system and somehow see both the problem and the political disaster hiding behind it. A lot of people there cared deeply about higher ed. They understood that colleges and universities are not just “customers.” They are institutions trying to keep students moving, faculty supported, and operations alive with systems that often looked held together by duct tape, PLSQL scripts, and institutional trauma.

Cons

Then there was the C-suite. Every company has executives. That’s normal. But this group often felt less like corporate stewards and more like LinkedIn influencers who accidentally wandered into an ERP company. They seemed distant. Aloof. Not deeply engaged with the actual work, the clients, or the people carrying the weight. There was a lot of executive polish, a lot of corporate language, a lot of “vision,” but not always the kind of grounded leadership that makes employees say, “I trust these people with the future of the company.” At times, it felt like the people closest to the customers understood the business better than the people paid the most to lead it.
