Pros
The Elopak, Inc. (New Hudson) engineering and production facility was a great place to work until the decision was made to close and move operations to Germany using an unproven team. Before the closing, there was a large knowledge base of very highly skilled workers doing whatever was needed to get machines out the door. The sad demise of yet another American manufacturing company which dates back to the early 1920s in Detroit as Pure-Pak/Ex-Cello. Other key pros were good benefits, international environment, interesting projects and a generally good company atmosphere.
Cons
Decision to close and move US manufacturing operation by corporate has proven to be short sighted as dysfunctional team in Germany has yet to produce a sellable machine after 4+ years of failed attempts. North American customers wanting machines formerly produced in the now closed US plant, have been turned away. Core team of aseptic machine developers who were purchased as fill design GmbH and brought into Elopak lead at new facility, have already left the company.
