Pros
Joining Embark, I was thrilled to be joining a team that was passionate about the mission, and knowledgeable. My coworkers and managers were both wonderful and clear in their expectations of me and each other. It was evident most departments were well-oiled machines. Overall, cross-functionally everyone was willing to work together and I got to learn from a lot of great people because of that. Career growth is there as long as you advocate for it and the benefits were great including insurance for myself and my pets. The company also began implementing structure goals which I appreciated.
Cons
After about 1.5 years, and the pandemic caused canine adoption boom, it was evident that the first CEO was struggling, the exec team was out of touch and certain teams like CS and logistics were undervalued and often left in the dark until as other posts mention, it was too late. Instead of involving them in the conversation from the start, they are left to handle damage control. CS are true product and subject experts, who develop strong rapports with customers. Late 2021/early 2022, is when the "treading water" energy was palpable. When I joined Embark it felt like we were trying to be the best in the market with research and product offerings, and while the market has changed over the years, it no longer feels that way. Research and science are no longer the priority because of the economic impact on the business and the mission no longer seems to fit.
